Selfie robot for a wedding reception: what it actually does, and what it costs
02 September 2026
Most couples have seen a photo booth at someone else's function. Fewer have seen a robot doing the same job, and the question we get asked first is simply: what does it actually do?
What happens on the night
The robot is 5.5 feet tall with a 21 inch screen across its front. An operator drives it by remote control, so it goes where the people are — around the dining tables, along the queue at the buffet, up near the stage during the photo session.
It stops in front of a group, greets them, and the screen shows a countdown. It takes the photo, prints it in about twenty seconds, and can send the same photo to their phone over WhatsApp before they have finished looking at the print.
That is the whole thing. It is not complicated. What makes it work is where it stands: nowhere.
Why a moving robot beats a booth in a corner
A fixed booth waits for people to come to it. At a reception, the people who come are the ones who were already going to. Cousins in their twenties, the couple's friends, children.
The people who never walk over are the ones you most want in the album. Your mother's sisters. Your father's colleagues. The elderly relatives who came from out of town, sat down at table nine, and will not get up again until dinner.
The robot goes to table nine. In our experience that single difference roughly doubles how many of your guests end up with a photo, and it changes which guests those are.
What it can do, honestly
- Speaks English. The greetings and questions are a fixed script that you approve before the event. AI conversation, where it responds freely to what a guest says, can be switched on as an optional extra.
- Runs six hours on one charge, which covers a normal reception with room to spare.
- Prints on the spot, with your names and the date in the frame around every photo.
- Remote controlled, not self-driving. That is deliberate. Autonomous robots get confused in a packed hall and stop working exactly when the room is fullest.
- Carries your branding. For corporate events, your logo goes on the screen and on the photo frame, and a full body wrap in your colours can be arranged with a few days' notice.
What it cannot do
It needs a flat, level floor and roughly a metre of clear path. Stairs stop it completely. If your stage or dining area is raised, we need a ramp.
It does not work well on grass, sand or uneven ground, so a fully outdoor lawn function is usually the wrong venue for it.
And it is one machine. At a function with fifteen hundred guests, one robot cannot reach everybody, however well it is driven.
What it costs
Rental starts at Rs 35,000 for the event. That includes the operator for the full booking, delivery and setup, packing up afterwards, unlimited photos, a custom photo frame with your names, instant sharing, and every photo handed over to you at the end.
What moves the number: how many hours you need it, whether you want prints or digital sharing only, and how far we travel. Inside Vijayawada there is no travel charge. Guntur and Nellore are minor. Visakhapatnam or Hyderabad means an overnight stay for the crew, and we quote that upfront rather than adding it to the bill later.
Three times you should book something else
- Very large functions on a tight budget. If the goal is that everyone gets a print and the guest list runs past a thousand, a fixed photo booth gives you a lower cost per photo. Some clients book both: the robot works the room, the booth handles volume.
- Outdoor venues with rough ground. Ask us before you book. We would rather tell you no than arrive and struggle.
- When you want a greeting, not photos. If what you actually want is something memorable at the entrance as guests arrive, our service robots do that job better.
Tell us your date, venue and rough guest count and we will give you a real number rather than a range.
